There are certain things as a fan of the Dallas Cowboys fan that I’m not used to saying including “They’re the best team in the division”, “They have a great defense” and I’m definitely not used to saying “They won because of their run game”. Well after yesterdays game against the St. Louis Rams I was able to say all of those things but the one that surprised me the most was the fact that they won because they ran the ball and they ran it well. DeMarco Murray has shown flashes of greatness and his ability to be a very good running back but Dallas barely would give him the ball for whatever reason. His last 100 yard game came against the New York Giants in week one of LAST SEASON and though he did miss a few games due to injury that’s still extremely sad! It may just be appropriate that his next 100 yard game came against the team that he made his name against when he ran for a Dallas Cowboys record 253 yards back in 2011. But this years Rams team is different then the one in 2011 and it could be debated that his performance on Sunday was more impressive then his record setting day. That Rams team was just terrible back in 2011 and though this years Rams team isn’t a playoff caliber team they play with a lot more pride and effort and Murray took it to them. Murray ran for 175 yards and a touchdown against the Rams and helped set the pace for the rest of the Cowboys offense. The bottom line in my opinion though is when Dallas runs the ball they play better and have a much better chance of winning the game. Murray is good enough to help carry the offense and set up the passing game and as a Cowboys fan I hope they continue to “feed” Murray the ball! There is no denying that Murray can carry the Cowboys to more wins!

DeMarcus Ware also set the record for career sacks by a Dallas Cowboys player in yesterdays game.
From ESPN Stats & Information: The Cowboys called runs on 34 of their 59 offensive plays (57.6%), their highest rate in a game since Week 13 of 2010 against the Colts (59.7%). Dallas came into this week with just 27.1% called runs this season.
