As everyone knows at this point Dwight Howard wants to be traded from Orlandobut he wants to chose where he goes!  Well as a player he doesn’t get that option and that’s why the Houston Rockets are making a push before draft day to try and trade for Dwight.  By trading G/F Chase Budinger to the Timberwolves the Rockets added the 18th overall pick to the two others they already had (14 and 16).  The Rockets may trade the 14th and 16th picks to Sacramento for the 5th overall pick and are looking at trading G Kyle Lowry for another top 10 pick in hopes that the 2 top 10 picks plus number 18 will give them enough to offer Orlando in exchange for Dwight Howard.  This years draft is considered one of the deepest in recent memory and to some that might be enticing but, even if it is for Orlando I don’t think this is a good idea for Houston!  Houston is a pretty good team and three 1st round picks could really help the depth and rotation of the Rockets plus most likely get them into the playoffs!  I also don’t think this is a good idea because Dwight Howard doesn’t want to be in Houston so it’s not like he will sign a contract extension with the Rockets so they would lose him after 1 year anyway!  Now this is all speculation and let’s be honest Howard hasn’t even met with Rob Hennigan the Magics new GM.  In other words Dwight still has a chance to pick his head coach and the Magic still have a chance to convince Dwight to extend his contract and stay in Orlando.  From what I hear though Howard wants to go to Brooklyn and play for the Nets so if that’s true then if I’m Orlando I would take the trade and make him someone elses problem!  If I’m Houston I take advantage of my draft picks and make my team better through the draft or with a smarter trade then the one their thinking of!  Make sure to check out SportsZone every Monday through Friday from 10am-12pm eastern time on ,, app and the tunein radio app (search clubzone).  Follow me on twitter @davidhastings23 and find us on facebook at .
