On Friday, All-Pro Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was indicted by a Texas grand jury on charges of reckless or negligent injury to a child, with a warrant issued for his arrest. This shocking turn of events led to his deactivation for Sunday’s week two matchup against the New England Patriots, causing an uproar from Fantasy owners across the country. Those who own him used a top three pick for him in drafts, and a top three pick is never easily replaceable, even if does end up being only for one week. So who should fantasy owners turn to in order to replace Peterson?

ap– The easiest place to turn is to the players the Vikings use to try to replace him; 27-year-old, undrafted, third year back Matt Asiata, and rookie third-round pick Jerick McKinnon. Asiata has only recorded statistics in six of 28 career games; one of which he scored three touchdowns, and another in which he rushed 14 times for 115 yards- both coming in December of last season. He should be the starter, while McKinnon, who only recorded one carry last week but showed explosive playmaking ability at Georgia Southern, might be used as a change of pace, and deserves dynasty and 14-team league consideration. If you’re in league with a psycho-Vikings fan (In my keeper league, it’s SportsZone’s own Jay Rofsky), these guys are long gone. Asiata could be decent in a spot-start role, but neither player figures replace the void on a fantasy roster left by one of the best backs of the last ten years.

– Others worthy of consideration (all owned in under 50% of Yahoo leagues)- Shonn Greene (TEN v. DAL), Ahmad Bradshaw (IND v. PHI), Isaiah Crowell (CLE v. NO- My Special Performance this week anyway), Bobby Rainey (TB v. STL), Benny Cunningham (STL v. TB), Roy Helu (WAS v. JAX), Dexter McCluster (TEN v. DALLAS)

– The two Vikings’ players this will affect the most are Matt Cassel and Cordelle Patterson. Cassel is usually only able to get anything going due to the attention AP receives, clearly the way for him to make his throws. Patterson becomes Minnesota’s lone explosive playmaker on offense, and while it’s possible he gets used in the running game (he did get over 100 rushing yards last week WITH AP around), it’s also possible the Patriots shift their defense strategy to hone in on Patterson, forcing the Vikings to try them beat them elsewhere.

Whichever way you look at it, downgrade ALL Vikings for with two, and hope Peterson returns the next week. Good luck to all.
