After last weeks game against the Denver Broncos as a Cowboys fan I was speechless! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Romo led offense play so well and a Cowboys defense play so bad in one game. With that game in the books I honestly had no idea what to expect from Dallas against the Redskins on Sunday night but let’s just say I was nervous. Lets be honest you can’t expect any team especially the Cowboys to put together two straight games with that type of offensive performance and on the other hand I had no idea what the defense was going to be like. To add to it if you told me DeMarcus Ware would leave the game I definitely didn’t know what to expect from the defense. But the Cowboys came out last night and surprised us all because they didn’t win because of a great offense or a dominate defense they won because of heart, will and effort. That was exemplified in their special teams performance or the forgotten part of a football game. Dwayne Harris who won special teams player of the week once already this year set himself up for another with a 90 yard kickoff return that led to a Cowboys touchdown and 85 yard punt return for a touchdown not to mention a key tackle in the second half on a punt. He was just one “no name” player that stepped up big in their win. With Ware out for the game Dallas was playing with only one starter on their defensive line but it didn’t matter. Guys like Nick Hayden, Kyle Bosworth, Drake Nevis and the no name player of the night Kyle Wilber who had a sack, forced fumble and a fumble recovery last night showed the heart and will the Cowboys needed to win last night. Cowboys fans have all noticed the difference in attitude and effort the Cowboys defense has shown this year but the results have been the same and even last night they still gave up over 430 yards but they made stops when they had to and you could tell they played as hard as they possibly could. As a fan that’s all you can ask for and as a long time fan let me tell you it was nice to see the Cowboys win a game on will, effort and heart!
