Here’s a quick Week Four Roundup before previewing Week Five:

Florida State 23 Clemson 17 OT

Clemson usually has these games against the likes of Wake Forest and NC State but played a “Clemson” against the #1 team in the country. With Jameis Winston suspended for the game, the Florida State Offense looked out of sync. They made enough plays to win the game, but they had no business winning that game. The cynic in me wanted FSU to lose the game to potentially cost them a spot in the College Football Playoff. Jameis Winston is too an important of a football player to be suspended and his actions that caused the suspension (he stood up in the middle of the FSU student center and yelled profane remarks towards women) were dumb. Sean McGuire played like the backup quarterback that he is, but if Clemson had played even average they would have won the game. This win pretty much locks up the division title for FSU, and Notre Dame and Louisville loom as potential road blocks.

Auburn 20 Kansas State 14

This is the type of game that could sneak Auburn into the College Football Playoff. A road Thursday night game in Manhattan, Kansas against a top-20 team is the type of resume building win that can make the selection committee fight over who gets in. Auburn’s offense led by Nick Marshall does an amazing job of keeping defenses guessing with the read option. Kansas State could hold its head high and should be a contender to make some noise in the Big 12.

Predicting Week Five:

ndsNotre Dame vs. Syracuse
The string of Notre Dame playing inferior teams continue. With their agreement to play ACC schools, even though they are not a member, will present games like these. With the game being played at Met Life this is more a recruiting showcase for Notre Dame. Syracuse is still in rebuilding mode and will most likely be blown out.

Prediction: Notre Dame 38 Syracuse 17

UCLA vs. Arizona State

The only meeting between ranked teams highlight the best game of the week. For a team that has gone 3-0, UCLA has not looked as good as against mediocre non-conference opponents. This could determine the PAC 12 south division champion if UCLA were to stumble going forward. The UCLA offense needs to be more consistent for them to win. Should be a tough game but UCLA should squeak through.

Predicting: UCLA 28 Arizona State 24

Rutgers vs. Tulane

After defeating Navy last week, Rutgers will look to improve to 4-1 in the young season. They have lost their stud running back Paul James for the year with an ACL tear and should be able to rely on Desmond Peoples and Justin Goodwin. Expect Rutgers to pound the ball all day and eliminate Gary Nova having any influence on the game.

Prediction: Rutgers 28 Tulane 17
