Memorial Day Weekend is the unofficial start of summer, and the Yankees and their bats started to heat up as they swept the Oakland Athletics this weekend. Mark Teixeira started the series with a .226 avg and now sits at a .254avg going 8/14 with 3Hrs and 8 RBI against Oakland pitching. Coughing less, and slugging more, the All Star 1st baseman was the star of the weekend. Hiroki Kuroda picked up his first road win of the year pitching 8 scoreless innings only giving up 4hits in a 2-0 win yesterday. Rafael Soriano picked up his 5th save of the year, and Andruw Jones rocked a solo HR as well. Derek Jeter notched another milestone surpassing George Brett for 14th on the all time hit list with 3,155 and counting. This Yankee team is now 26-11 when hitting a HR but just 0-10 when they don’t. Lets hope they continue they’re hot hitting as the Summer is just starting to heat up as well. The Yankees start a series with the Los Angeles Angels , Phil Hughes takes on Jared Weaver.
